Upgrade course for interior designers “Design of Public Spaces. Café” is meant for interior designers wishing to boost their professional skills in designing public spaces of various functioning. The main goal of the upgrade course for interior designers is, with a cafe as an example, to get familiarized with the specifics of working with non-residential premises and to create a professionally designed project of a café with a complete set of designer rawings. The course is designed around a range of specific tasks allowing the students to immerse deeply into the subject and enabling them later to feel at ease when working with similar objects.

While being specific tasks orientated the course leaves plenty of space for self-realization: the specifics of a café provide wide opportunities for generating creative ideas and plenty of possibilities to experiment with planning and style. Thus, another task of the upgrade course for interior designers is to encourage students to use their imagination, to create freely without looking at any authorities and to avoid stereotyped solutions when creating design project.

At the beginning of the course students are given a range of formative assignments. These assignments are virtual tasks, selected in order to encourage a student of the upgrade course to master and use in the design project as many constructive solutions for various functional elements as possible. Prospective cafes are spacious, with high ceilings, which gives free reign to one’s fancy in both functional arrangement and aesthetic presentation. Students of the upgrade course can also bring their real life projects to be looked within the framework of the course.

The upgrade course program is developed by Denisieva Eugenia Borisovna, an architect, a competent planner and an experienced interior designer. On completion of the course and after confirming the new qualifications by a public presentation of a course project, a student is given a certificate of advanced education.
